Report:

The objective of this Refresher Course was to nurture the research aptitude and competency development of the young faculty members under the domain of Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management and other subjects of Allied Sciences. The Refresher Course began with the Inaugural Session on 22nd June, 2020. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi, welcomed all the members and discussed the background note of conducting this online Refresher Course. Prof. Hoda emphasised the pressing need of aligning the Academic Processes, in proactive manner, by bringing required flexibilities in the system to make it ready for Education 4.0 amidst the changing ecosystem of Industry 4.0. Prof. Prerna Gaur, Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section, was the Guest of Honour and highlighted the activities of the IEEE Delhi Section. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session was Prof. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Gurgaon. He addressed the need to integrate academia and industry in the current times as we are moving towards Industry 4.0 that focuses on interconnectivity, automation of processes, machine learning and real-time data analysis. He briefed the role of teachers, academicians and professional societies towards strengthening the entire education system that must respond to the requirements of Industry 4.0 as well as entrepreneurship. The session was also addressed by Prof. J. W. Bakal, President, IETE, New Delhi and Mr. R. K. Vyas, President, CSI.

There were 20 interesting and knowledge imparting sessions covered during two weeks Refresher Course. The Refresher Course was aimed to provide all the participants an opportunity to acquaint them with the new skills, methods, and processes required to improve their performance and learn about new developments in the field of academics. The course observed active participation from various research scholars and faculties with positive outcomes. During the course, the participants were given Assignments based on the sessions and they also underwent a quiz based on MCQs. On the basis of their performance in these assignments and MCQs they were ranked among A+, A and B+ categories. 

The Refresher Course attracted 125 participants from different parts of the world, including participants from University of Kashmir, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amity University, Jorhat Engineering College, Central University of Haryana, University of Delhi, Dashmesh Khalsa College, Tripura Institute of Technology, Islamic University of Science and Technology, M.E.S. College of Arts and Commerce, Sri Venkateswara University, Northern-Eastern Hill University, to  name a few.

Last day of the Refresher Course witnessed Valedictory Session. Prof. M. N. Hoda welcomed all the guests and thanked all the speakers for conducting interactive sessions. He also discussed the importance of research and patents in coming years and encouraged all the participants to boost their research with social impact factor that focuses on contribution of research in society. The Guest of Honour of the event Prof. A. K. Nayak, Immediate Past President, CSI, discussed the need for conducting online classes and focus on e-learning to strengthen the education sector in the difficult times. Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Raj Kr. Mittal, Vice Chancellor, Choudhary Bansilal Vishwavidyalaya, Bhiwani, addressed the session and expressed the need to integrate education and research together to address societal problems and to reinforce Indian economy by promoting entrepreneurship and introducing low cost input designs in producing highly efficient products in the nation. The session was presided over by Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Noted Academician, Chairman, NBA, New Delhi and Former Founder Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University, New Delhi. He expressed his appreciation towards BVICAM on successfully conducting these kinds of programs on multidisciplinary topics while maintaining quality and not only quantity.

 At the end, few participants shared their experiences on two weeks program and gave their valuable feedback. The entire FDP was coordinated by Dr. Vishal Jain, Associate Professor, Mr. Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor and Mr. Uttam Singh, Assistant Professor, BVICAM. All the participants were awarded with certificates of participation electronically. Dr. Vishal Jain expressed his vote of thanks to all the attendees for their active participation and professional bodies for their collaboration in this Refresher Course.
