Report:

The programme began with the Registrations on 01st August, 2020 followed by Technical Demo of the CISCO WebEx Digital Learning Platform on 02nd August, 2020 and Inaugural Session on 03rd August, 2020. During the inaugural session, Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi, welcomed all the guests & attendees, and discussed the background note of conducting this Induction programme. He highlighted the significance of Education 4.0 to meet the emerging demands of Industry and emphasized on continuous learning which must go on regardless of all disruptions. Prof. Prerna Gaur, Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section, addressed the audience and highlighted the activities of the IEEE Delhi Section. She also talked about various student chapters introduced under IEEE DS to promote the relationship between Academia and Industry.

Chief Guest of the inaugural session, Prof. A. K. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Sri Sri University, Cuttack, highlighted the significance of “Digital Transformation in Higher Education and Education 4.0. Guest of Honours of the inaugural session, Prof. A. K. Nayak, Immediate Past President, Computer Society of India discussed the benefits of the online education and Dr. Nitin Malik, Registrar, Ambedkar University, New Delhi emphasized the importance of Induction programme in the academic career. He motivated all the participants to enthusiastically participate in this programme and derive quality outcomes from it. There were various interesting and knowledge imparting online sessions covered in the programme.

Week # 01, witnessed sessions on Attitude of Gratitude by Dr. Shankar Goenka, WOW Factors, Faridabad, MOOC - The Next Generation Learning Platform, Prof. M. Kasim, AJK Mass communication Research, Centre Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Research Methodology and The Art of Writing Proposals for Research Projects by Prof. D. K. Lobiyal, JNU, New Delhi, Research in Digital Age - Problems and Opportunities by Mr. Dineshkumar Singh, TCS Innovation Lab, Mumbai, The Art of Writing Quality Papers by Dr. Gagandeep Singh, CRC, Taylor & Francis Group, Applications of Design Thinking by Mr. Siddhartha Choudhary, Design Director, Frog Design, Delhi, Simplifying IPR and Patent Filling by Mr. Awab Habib Fakih AIKTC, Mumbai, Entrepreneurship and Startup by Dr. Sanjay Bahl, PCBT, Phagwara, Punjab, Citations and Reference Management using Mendeley, by Dr. Ritika Wason BVICAM, New Delhi.

Week # 02 was primarily focussed on Capacity Building Workshop on Moodle Open Source LMS, pertaining to which there were sessions on Moodle LMS by Mr. Uttam Singh Bist, BVICAM, New Delhi, Google Classroom, Mrs. Tanya Garg, BVICAM, New Delhi, Sakai LMS by Dr. Sunil Pratap Singh, BVICAM, New Delhi.

Week # 03 witnessed sessions on very important topics like Ethical Issues and Plagiarism in Research by Dr. Ritika Wason BVICAM, New Delhi, Cyber Security by Dr. Anup Girdhar, Sedulity Groups, New Delhi, Human Values and Professional Ethics by Dr. Vibhakar Shrimali, G. B. Pant College of Engineering, New Delhi, Curriculum  Design & Development and Curriculum Assessment & Evaluation by Dr. Vikas Nath, BVIMR, New Delhi, Industry 4.0 – Technical Perspective by Mr. Vijay Anand, Altran Technologies, Gurugram, BlockChain – Technical Perspective by Dr. Mayank Aggrawal, G. K. V., Haridwar.

Again, Week # 04 was primarily focussed on Capacity Building Workshop on Outcome Based Education and Accreditation Processes of NBA and NAAC, pertaining to which there were sessions on Outcome-based NBA Accreditation by Prof. B. S. Pabla, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research Institute (NITTTR), Chandigarh, Outcome-based Education Framework & its Components (Vision, Mission, PEO, PSO, PO, CO) and Design of Outcome based Question Paper and Attainment of CO & PO by Dr. Priti Bajaj, VC, Galgotia University, Greater Noida, Mapping Outcomes, Assessment and Rubrics by Prof. H. S. Guruprasad, BMS College, Bengaluru, Bloom Taxonomy and Design of Learning Outcomes, Project-Based Learning and Design of Outcome based Curriculum by Prof. P. S. Grover, Former Dean & Director, Univ. of Delhi, Dimensions of NAAC Accreditation and its Preparedness by Prof. Raghuvir Singh VC, TMU, Moradabad, Library Centric Learning (for NAAC Accreditation), Student Satisfaction Surveys and Feedback Mechanisms Dr. Peeyush Pahade, H. V. Desai College, Pune, Pre-qualifier for NBA Assessment and Accreditation and SAR Filling by Prof. Dharmendra Kumar, GJUST, Hisar. The last day of the programme also witnessed a panel discussion on Open House Q&A on NBA & NAAC Assessment and Accreditation by Panel: Prof. Dharmendra Kumar, Prof. P. S. Grover and Prof. M. N. Hoda.

The objective of this Faculty Induction Programme was to sensitize and motivate the faculty to adopt learner centric approach with required degree of in-built flexibilities having ICT integration, and emerging pedagogical approaches to teaching learning processes and assessment in Higher education, having special focus on all the four components of faculty development namely Interpersonal, Instructional, Organizational and Professional. The induction programme was open to the teachers/research scholars from all the stream of higher and technical education. Structure of the programme was designed with Multi Entry – Multi Exit options. During the programme, the participants were given Assignments based on the sessions and they also underwent a quiz based on MCQ Tests. Participants also prepared projects on the given case studies in a Team of 5-6 members. On the basis of their performance in these projects, assignments and MCQ Tests, they were ranked at A+, A and B categories.  The programme observed active participation of research scholars and faculties from different states of the nation; like from Pillai Institute of Information Technology, Panvel, Annamalai University, Tamilnadu, Tripura Institute of Technology, Narsingarh, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, J&K, St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, Goa University, Goa - to name a few. Last day of the programme also witnessed a Valedictory Session of the One Month Faculty Induction Programme. Dr. Vishal Jain, Associate Professor, BVICAM, presented a brief report on all the sessions covered during one month of the programme. Prof. M. N. Hoda welcomed all the guests and thanked all the speakers & participants to make this programme a successful event with positive outcomes. He discussed that it is important to ensure the quality of education in technical programs and develop a confidence among students, Industry and stakeholders.  Guest of Honour, Prof. A. K. Nayak, Immediate Past President, Computer Society of India, congratulated the organizing team for successfully conducting One Month Faculty Induction Programme. Chief Guest of the event, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi Former Founder Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, congratulated and thanked all the participants for attending this programme. He motivated all the attendees to develop a passion and make self-commitments to achieve the mission of their Institutes and follow the outcome based curriculum to promote OBE.

At the end, few participants shared their experiences on attending this programme and gave their valuable feedback. The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Vishal Jain, Associate Professor, Mr. Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor, Mr. Uttam Singh, Assistant Professor, BVICAM and Dr. Ritika Wason, Associate Professor, BVICAM. All the participants were awarded with certificates of participation electronically. Dr. Vishal Jain expressed his vote of thanks to all the attendees for their active participation and professional bodies for their collaboration in this online programme.
