Report:

The National Symposium was held on 02nd November, 2020 in the benign presence of the dignitaries from all the collaborating professional societies. The webinar was blessed to have inaugural address by Prof. Subrata Mukhopadhyay giving a brief background of the all these webinars in collaboration will all the premiere professional societies, including the latest happenings in the domain of Software Defined Networking. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi addressed the session and discussed the background note of conducting this Symposium. He emphasized that these online programmes act as networking tool to connect people from across the world and help them to adapt to a New Normal life, a new ecosystem caused by COVID-19. He motivated the participants to continue learning regardless of all round disruptions. He also discussed the background of the topics of the Symposium and discussed that under Industry 4.0, Software Applications are disrupting age old Business Processes and the key is the Business Process Re-engineering on continuous basis under changing ecosystem. Prof. J. W. Bakal, President, IETE, delivered the theme address and congratulated Prof. Hoda and the team for having organized this symposium in such a successful manner.

There were 03 technical talks in the Symposium. First talk was delivered on Use Cases of 5G in Pandemic situation by Ms. R. Ezhir Pavai, Vice President (Wireless Service Line), Altran (Gurugram). She discussed that 5G can help in very significant ways to deal with the pandemic situation. Right from using devices, which require low latency applications to very high bandwidth to having large number of connected devices, 5G can help pave the way for the new normal world. Few very interesting use cases especially from Indian context were discussed.

Second talk was delivered on IOT Technology & its Use Cases for Pandemic by Mr. Anil Pathak, Director (Engineering), Harman (Gurugram). He discussed that IOT Technology can be of immense use in effectively managing pandemics like COVID-19 specially in detection, contact tracing, cluster identification, compliance of quarantine, patient and elderly care. Very interesting and realistic use cases were discussed.

Third talk was delivered on Digital Twin: defining future of manufacturing in the post COVID-19 world by Mr. Subhankar Pal, Assistant Vice President (Research & Innovation), Altran (Gurugram). He discussed that the Digital twin is a digital replica of physical asset, system or process across its lifecycle, for enabling the understanding, learning, reasoning and dynamically recalibrating for improved decision making in real time and drive positive business outcome. With the help of many use cases and real-time data analytics, he demonstrated that how digital twin technology is setting the new normal for manufacturing industry and helping them to maintain business continuity during this pandemic without putting employees at risk, by enabling remote operation in the factory, remote monitoring of critical processes for quality control, virtual training of new systems, etc.

 

Finally, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Chairman, National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi and Former Founder Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University, New Delhi, who was the Chief Guest of the symposium, has delivered the concluding address. He discussed that in coming days effective uses of emerging technologies will become omnipresent in all the spectrum of our day to day life.

The session was concluded with Question & Answer round where participants willingly asked their queries. Prof. M. N. Hoda gave his heartfelt appreciation to all the speakers for their insightful and detailed talks. He also thanked all the participants and panellist for giving their precious time for having participated in this symposium, a huge success. Shri. Pankaj Gupta gave the vote of thanks. The symposium attracted huge participation from across the country and abroad like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Canada, Bahrain, Ethiopia, Maylasia, Qatar, Bangladesh, Spain, Australia, Pakistan, Phillipine, etc. The symposium was coordinated and anchored by Dr. Ritika Wason, Associate Professor, BVICAM, New Delhi and Mr. Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor, BVICAM, New Delhi was the technical host for the Webinar.
