INDIACom 2020

The 14th edition of INDIACom,  INDIACom 2020, 7th International Conference on “Computing for Sustainable Global Development” was hosted by Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi during 12th – 14th  March, 2020. The event was technically sponsored by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Delhi Section and was supported by Computer Society of India (CSI) Delhi Chapter, Institutions of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Delhi Centre, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Delhi Section, Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Delhi State Networks, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s CSI Students’ Branch New Delhi, GGSIPU New Delhi, All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) India, SERB - Department of Science & Technology Ministry of Science & Technology – Govt. of India and Shri JagadishPrasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.

The event started with an inaugural ceremony on the evening of 12th March 2020. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, BVICAM, New Delhi & General Chair, INDIACom-2020 welcomed all the dignitaries on the dice, audience and International guests of the event who could not attend the event this year due to travel restrictions by Corona Virus advisory. In his welcome address he briefed the audience about the history of past 13 editions of INDIACom, since its inception in the year 2007 and presented a brief report of INDIACom - 2020.  He shared statistics of the conference which attracted researchers and practitioners from academia, industry and government agencies, in order to exchange ideas and share their valuable experiences. Over 500 papers from all over of the world were received, out of which 371 papers were considered for technical review and finally 91 papers were accepted. Continuing with his words, he discussed the objectives of organizing INDIACom every year, which provides a platform to academicians, scientists, researchers, industrialists and experts from different domains to explore new horizons of innovative technologies and promote scientific progress aimed to accelerate India’s overall growth to prominence on the International front.

Prof. A. K. Saini, Professor, GGSIP University, New Delhi shared his ideas on industrial revolutions and how sustainable computing applications can turn around the fate of the country at a much faster pace. He also shared his expert views on the growth, development and advancements that the world is currently witnessing through the power and capabilities of innovative technologies.

Prof. Prerna Gaur, Executive Vice Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section, graced the occasion and congratulated the entire team of INDIACom for making this event a success. She also appreciated INDIACom for collaborating many technical societies to promote research in the country. She also discussed with audience how IEEE approval is given to a conference after a series of phases and how different IEEE committees work for sponsoring conferences and other events.

The Chief Guest of the event Prof. K. K. Agarwal, Noted Academician and Founder Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University, New Delhi, Chairman NBA, expressed his appreciation on the success and sustainability of INDIACom over the years. He shared his views on how the educational paradigm has been changed over years and how the education system should be open to accept students’ alternatives of solutions to encourage logical thinking and nurturing innovations & creativity. He expressed his thoughts on how computing is changing our lives and we have to run very fast to remain sustainable.

Mr. R. K. Vyas, President, CSI also gave his best wishes to the entire team and his appreciation towards success of INDIACom over past years. Shri C. B. Sawant, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth Regional Office, New Delhi also graced the occasion.

Other Guests of the event who could not attend the inaugural event due to travel restrictions by Corona Virus Advisory were Prof. Mohammad Yamin,The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia and the convenor of the 6th International Conference on Information Engineering and Management (ICIEM 2020) based on the theme “Business Management and Health Informatics”; Dr. George Tsaramirsis, King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Yasser Ades, Greenwhich University, London, Dr. A. M. Basahel from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Prof. A. K. Nayak, President (Elect), CSI, India.

On the occasion, proceedings of INDIACom-2020 were released by all the dignitaries, followed up by the release of BVICAM’s International Journal of Information Technology (IJIT), Volume 12 No 1. IJIT is published by Springer under ISSN: 2511- 2104 (Print Version); ISSN: 2511-2112 (Electronic Version), which is now available online at http://link.springer.com/journal/41870. Volume 12 Number 01 presents a compilation of various papers that span a broad variety of topics from various emerging areas of Information Technology and Computer Science, especially addressing current research problems related to Cognitive Networks, Sentiment Analysis, Classification Algorithms, Routing Protocols, IoT and Soft Computing to name a few. The website for INDIACom-2020 also got released at http://bvicam.ac.in/indiacom.

After the enlightening talks and release of proceedings, dignitaries on the dice were felicitated with mementos. Faculty Awards were presented to the faculties of BVICAM family in various categories. Best Faculty Awards was presented to Mrs. Vaishali Joshi for the year 2019. Awards for Best Research Paper Publication were presented to Dr. Vishal Jain, Dr. Ritika Wason, Mr. Manish, Mr. Uttam Singh Bisht and Mrs. Tanya Pathak Garg for having their research papers published in SCI, ESCI and Scopus indexed journals. Research Paper Citation award was given to two faculties Dr. Vishal Jain for having more than 400 citations and Mr. Manish Kumar for having more than 200 citations at the end of year 2019.

Mrs. Tanya Pathak Garg, Assistant Professor, BVICAM, presented the vote of thanks. Entire event was co-ordinated by Mrs. Parul Arora, Assoc. Professor, BVICAM.

INDIACom 2020 - the 14th edition of this annual conference, attracted over 500 papers, by 1200 authors across the globe. Based upon an initial scrutiny, 371 papers were found worth consideration for technical review.  After a series of tough review exercises, by a team of over 600 experts, 91 papers, authored by over 250 authors from different parts of the country and abroad, were recommended to be accepted for presentation in INDIACom – 2020. These papers were accepted under four different tracks based on different themes. Track # 1 had papers on Sustainable Computing; Track # 2 was based on High Performance Computing; Track # 3 had presentations on High Speed Networking and Information Security; Track # 4 was based on Software Engineering and Emerging Technologies; and lastly Track # 5 was based on papers which belong to 6th International Conference on Information Engineering and Management (ICIEM 2020).

These papers are published in soft copy of proceedings having ISSN 0973-7529 and ISBN 978-93-80544-36-6. These papers shall be published at IEEEXplore, the world’s largest repository, indexed with world’s leading Abstracting & Indexing (A&I) databases, including Web of Science, SCOPUS, DBLP, INSPEC, etc. Out of these 91 papers, a chosen set of 47 papers were further recommended, by the Editorial Board, for publication in the hard copy of the Pre-Conference Proceedings with ISSN 0973-7529 and ISBN 978-93-80544-37-3 serials. These papers represent wide variety of research topics in all the emerging areas besides traditional and core computational areas. Some of the application oriented papers may not be very rich in technical content, but provide extensive information about the new areas where computing can really be useful for the overall prosperity of the mankind, which in turn might facilitate the overall growth in the country.

Paper presentations were held on 13th and 14th March 2020 under regular tracks and special sessions. Paper presentations and invited talks showcased the solid research base built by the experts and participants. The skill with which the event was executed, welcomed positive feedback from all visiting members. Entire team of INDIACom including faculties and students of BVICAM put their efforts to make this event successful.
