Fresher's Party 2019

Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Computers Applications and Management (BVICAM) New Delhi, welcomed Freshers at a magnificent party hosted specially for them by their seniors at the college auditorium on 12th October 2019. ‘Novato Fiesta’ as it was aptly called was an opportunity for both Freshers and seniors alike to get to know each other better and forge a bond that may last beyond the three years of their curriculum.

“The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow” said Nelson Mandela and as the day progressed it was increasingly evident that the newcomers had tremendous potential in them that was just waiting to be tapped.

The event began with a spectacular solo dance performance by Mr. Shobhit Dayal, student of MCA 2nd year. The audience was mesmerised by the perfect synchronization of music and movement, grace and the beauty of the performance and tapped their feet to the music. The presentation ended with a resounding applause from the audience and set the pace for the day’s activities to unfold.

It has been said that ‘the ladder of success is best climbed by stepping on the rungs of opportunity’ and the next event brought with it just such an opportunity for the budding models in our midst! It was the Ramp Walk -- eagerly awaited by everyone. The Freshers introduced themselves one by one, each dressed to perfection and walking the stage with confidence. The audience cheered and encouraged all. The Walk was followed by a talent round. In talent round juniors showcased various skills like dancing, singing, guitar, comedy show and poetry. There was an astonishing medley of skill which accentuated the fact that these budding youngsters were an explosive combination beauty, brains and talent.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and culminated with the selection of Mr and Ms Fresher. Mr Vishal was presented with Mr Fresher title while Ms Divleen Kaur was crowned as Miss Fresher. Awards were also given for Mr and Ms. Talented and were bagged by Mr. Thakur Mukund Kumar and Ms. Namrata Agarwal respectively.

All had a great time and the seniors saw to it that no one was left out. The chits hidden under the seats encouraged active participation from both seniors and juniors. These chits were used to call audience on stage. It was then followed by series of games like burst the balloon and the paper dance. Seniors and juniors teamed up for the games thereby breaking the ice and forging new bonds of friendship between them. After all, as Rabindranath Tagore has rightly observed: “the depth of friendship does not depend on length of acquaintance.”

There was of course more to follow to keep everyone busy and interested. Juniors presented a humorous skit on college life filled with relatable experiences. Its coverage of exam day with the song ‘Ratta Maar’ was a big hit! More performances followed up. This included a melodious rendition of the songs followed by dance performances. The students were surely proving themselves to be an amazing package of talent and skill. The party ended with DJ followed by delicious and scrumptious lunch.

As Abraham Lincoln once said ‘I never had a policy; I have just tried to do my very best each and every day.’ Well, the Freshers along with their seniors had put their best foot forward for the Novato Fiesta and the day culminated for them with the promise of a bright future ahead where they would do their best not just in their years at BVICAM but in life as well!
