Artificial Intelligence Day Celebration - AI Day 2018

Aegis School of Data Science celebrated Artificial Intelligence Day 2018 on 29th Sep 2018 at Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi in collaboration with IEEE Delhi Section, CSI Div II, IV & Delhi Chapter, IETE Delhi Section and ISTE Delhi Section. Event began at sharp 10 in the morning by lightening of lamp and welcoming all the team members of Aegis School. The main objective of celebrating AI Day was to give an exposure of the most exciting field of Artificial Intelligence and related fields like Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, NLG, Computer Vision, Robotics, conversational AI, Data Science etc. Throughout the day the event focused on technical and practical verticals of Artificial Intelligence and its use cases based on AI.

Keynote address was given by Dr. Abhijit Gangopadhyay, Dean, Aegis School of Data Science. He briefed the audience about Artificial Intelligence- the concept which requires both computational and mathematical skills, potential of AI to shape India’s future, its role in development of digital India. He discussed the “buzz-words of today” that are AI, Machine learning and Deep Learning, the present and future trends of AI in India and AI for macro-social goods in India.

Mr. Bhupesh Daheria, CEO of Aegis School of Data Science talked about the industrial base of Aegis. He described AI by means of demonstration of multiple projects, conveyed the skill set requirements of data scientists and the future trends of IT industry with respect to AI.  He introduced Artificial intelligence as a technology which makes it possible for machines to learn from experience, adjust to new inputs and perform human-like tasks. Using these technologies, computers can be trained to accomplish specific tasks by processing large amounts of data and recognizing patterns in the data. He also introduced their research project ‘kHOJO” as an initiative towards helping Police department in locating kidnapped children.

Dr. Sougata Mukherjee, Program Director, Hybrid Integration, Cloud centre of Excellence at IBM Global Technology Services also graced the occasion. He discussed with the audience about the IBM’s Watson Project, its achievement of winning Jeopardy and the services of Watson in fields of healthcare, financial services, ecosystem and tech-support. Dr. Sarabjot Singh, Co-founder & Chief Data Scientist, Tantras Data, Co-founder Sabudh Foundation, addressed the audience on the insights of latent variable model and semantic representation along with collaborative filtering & feature engineering. Mr. Saurabh Moody, CEO & Founder of Realbox, briefed the audience with his business ideas & gave an insight on business dashboards, which are an analytical tool for business processing which are currently being used by business houses and Mr. Ashish Raina, Alumni Aegis School of Data Science, introduced the audience about deep learning, the visualization tools of deep learning and the applications of deep learning.

Mr. Nishith Pathak, First AI MVP, Microsoft Regional Director talked about “AI as a single biggest technology revolution the world has seen” and how AI has changed the roles, responsibilities and designations of IT professionals. He emphasized on emerging opportunities on emerging opportunities in the field of AI. He discussed the five levers required to create value from AI and the importance of creating “responsible” AI. Lastly, Mr. Vaibhav Jain, Sr. Data Analyst, briefed the audience with the AI technologies that will dominate the industry. His talk included various technologies such as NLP, Speech Recognition, Virtual Agents, Machine Learning Platform, AI optimized hardware, Decision Management, Deep Learning Platform, Biometrics, Robotic Process Automation (RPI), Text Analytics, Digital twin/AI modeling, Cyber defense, Compliance, Knowledge worker aid, Content creation, Peer-to-peer network, Emotion Recognition, Image Recognition and Marketing Automation.

After the enlightening talk, all delegates in attendance were felicitated with mementos as a vote of thanks by the eminent faculties of BVICAM.  At the end, the session concluded with the group photograph session of the delegates of Aegis, School of Data Science and hosting & coordinating team of BVICAM.
