IEEE Delhi Section with Computer Society Chapter, Consultants Network Affinity Group, Life Member Affinity Group, Inter Society Relations, Industry Relations & SIGHT Standing Committees of IEEE Delhi with the associations CSI, Safa Society, ISTE Delhi Section, IETE Delhi Centre, invites you for a Webinar on 17-April-2021, the Saturday, at 06:00 p.m.

Over a number of previous decades, there has been tremendous development of computing resources useful for academic, and also, for research purposes. However, so far, these resources cannot substitute for the human superiority regarding capabilities including creativity, commonsense, judgment, visual understanding, and finding principles behind different phenomena. The Computer is superior for research purpose when the problem under consideration is well-defined, knowledge of the problem domain is perfect or nearly perfect, and the reasoning required is formalized. On the other hand, if the problem is not well defined, and/or knowledge of problem domain is imperfect, i. e. it is incomplete, ambiguous, fuzzy, imprecise, inconsistent etc., and the reasoning required is based on common-sense, judgment, visual reasoning etc., then human intervention is essentially required. Thus, in order to optimally utilize man-machine resources for research, it is essential to know the type of problem, nature of the knowledge of problem domain, and the type(s) of required reasoning. This webinar aims to explore the role of knowledge & reasoning for obtaining optimal solutions, and for avoiding hazards/disasters, etc. due to negligence.
